Vibro-Replacement Stone Columns

A ground improvement process requiring formation of vertical columns of compacted aggregate through the soils to be improved. This method is most suited for soft cohesive soils, which do not respond to vibratory compaction.

The probe (Vibroflot) is initially inserted into the ground by vibration and air or water jetting or by vibration alone. Aggregate is then added at the tip of the Vibroflot and progressive raising and repenetration of the Vibroflot results in the aggregate being pushed into the surrounding soil.

Degree of improvement is dependent on the soil characteristics and spacing of the columns.
